Retirement Visa for Thailand Print E-mail
retirement visa thailandIf you are considering retirement in Thailand then you need to speak to a lawyer in Bangkok about a retirement visa for Thailand and the benefits of having one in Thailand. These are the basics on retirement in Thailand.

If you are considering retirement in Thailand then you need to speak to our lawyers in Bangkok or at any of our branches in Thailand. The process starts with obtaining a retirement visa outside of Thailand. This is called the OA Visa and is valid for 90 days when you enter Thailand. Once you have entered Thailand you need to have this visa extended for a year however you need to meet certain requirements in order to obtain a 1 year retirement visa. Firstly you need to be over 50 years of age when applying for the retirement visa. Secondly you need to have a health certificate to show that you are not ill. Thirdly you need to show proof of income.

This income comes in two forms. Either you have a deposit in a Thai bank account and proof that it was sent from overseas to your account and to the value of 800,000 Baht or you have to show a monhtly income of at least 65,000 Baht a month. This income needs to be verified by your embassy in Thailand. You can also have a combination of the two however someone has to calculate this for you as the rules do change.  If you need to know how to calculate this combination speak to any of our immigration attorneys  in Thailand or visa consultants online, in person at any of our offices in the Kingdom or simply call us 24 hours a day on our toll free US or UK telephone numbers. We are waiting for your call.
